Rouse Ye Women!
As part of Peterborough Women’s Festival, Townsend Productions present their latest show, a folk ballard about Mary Macarthur and the Women Chainmakers. In 1910, Women workers in Cradley Heath rose up against the conditions and low pay, waring 50p a week for hammering out chains in their backyards for 50 hours a week. The charismatic Mary Macarthur, led the fight-back.
The cast includes exciting new singer Bryony Purdue and established folk singer Rowan Godel (Oyster Band) with Neil Gore, founder and core member of Townsend Theatre Productions.
