Gallery Players presents The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee

The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee is the tale of a group of socially awkward youngsters finding joy, heartache and a purpose in competing at an American Spelling Bee.

This award winning musical comedy centres on a fictional Spelling Bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups.

The eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling champion-ship of a lifetime and along the way candidly disclose hilarious and touching stories from their home life, ultimately learning that winning isn’t everything. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves but all leave having learnt from the experience.

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences worldwide since 2005 with its effortless wit and humour.

With an addictive original score by William Finn and an award winning book by Rachel Sheinkin, Spelling Bee became an instant musical theatre favourite.
