Life in a tiny Victorian village
Life in the tiny Victorian village of Dulditch is tough. When Hannah comes to the aid of her newly widowed brother Thomas, the local rector, the visits of a host of increasingly eccentric villagers combine with the general mischief-making of Thomas' tiny daughter to produce a riot of misunderstanding, danger and the downright ridiculous. As they lurch from crisis to crisis, Thomas decides the whole household must move to a broken down cottage and live on the weekly wage of a poor farm labourer as 'an experiment'...
Along with the other inhabitants of Dulditch, Hannah finds that in the midst of profound personal and social difficulty there is a place for kindness, love and hope.
A blackly funny play featuring the stories of Mary Mann.
