Eastern Angles 40th Anniversary Celebration

Wed 17 May 2023 - Wed 17 May 2023

Whilst on our 2023 Spring tour of Medieval Miracles we took the opportunity to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary (one year delayed due to the pandemic) with a special night at Woodbridge Community Hall. Songs from local choir Rabble Chorus, a speech from co-founder and Artistic Director Ivan Cutting, a special look back at one of our first touring productions The Reapers Year, and a performance of Medieval Miracles all helped us mark this momentous occasion.

In our 40 year history we've toured to venues across the country; we've made theatres out of village halls, tithe barns, aircraft hangers and various other found spaces. Telling stories with a sense of place remains at the heart of everything we do, be it a touring theatre production or a community engagement project. We could not have become the company we are today without the volunteers, creatives, staff, freelancers, crew, and audiences who have joined us in the past 40 years - thank you.

And so we come to today. Eastern Angles has navigated its way through the pandemic, developed the Eastern Angles Centre into a thriving community-focused arts and heritage hub in the heart of one of the town’s most diverse areas, and is about to continue its role as an ACE National Portfolio Organisation for 2023-26 working in Ipswich, Peterborough and the rural areas of East Anglia.
