East Anglian wartime drama
The period 1939-45 saw the East of England bracing itself against the threat of invasion and transforming itself to meet the demands of a nation at war.
As everyone became swept up in the preparations many found themselves in fresh occupations or strange parts of the country.
It was a time for new friends, new responsibilities and new experiences. Above all it was a time for music: from singing in the shelter to whistling in the dark; from dance bands in the local hall to Workers Playtime.
ON THE HOME FRONT clocks up over 100 performances, and it becomes our most successful show so far. It also gives us our first review in The Guardian.
