Peculiar People

Tue 4 Feb 1992 - Sat 9 May 1992

A gripping Essex story in 3 time-zones.

During the early part of the nineteenth century in Essex, a young rabble-rousing ploughman switched his attention from poaching to preaching, and formed a religious sect that held one of the most controversial beliefs of the day.

They called themselves Peculiar People.

1890, on trial because of the death of his child, a 'Peculiar' father fights passionately against prosecution. A century later, in 1990, a couple newly arrived from London are haunted by his powerful presence, strong enough to convert, committed enough to try and create a miracle.

An impassioned play of fervent beliefs and ghostly visitations. Eastern Angles present this gripping tale in their popular and inventive ensemble style, accompanied by live music.
