Song of Provence

Wed 16 Sep 1992 - Sat 28 Nov 1992

The story of a rural French village.

It is market day in a small remote town on the sun-baked slopes of Provence. The local cafe fills up with people down from the hills to gossip, moan, bargain and joke.

Meanwhile, in the tiny hillside village of Aubignane, its last two inhabitants plot their will to survive. Panturle lays down his snares, as Mameche sets off over the wind-swept plateau to find him a wife.

SONG OF PROVENCE is an evocative tale of rural France; a pagan love story that reflects the contrasts of a region that has always had its own timeless and heady charm.
