A tale of a girl in a sport as old as time itself
In a world where bloodline is all important, a young girl, Dawn, drifts in off the streets to help handle the animals that supply the sport of Kings. A natural with horses, and one mare in particular, nevertheless she has come to terms with the inherited traditions of a Newmarket stable in order to command the respect of Ginger, the head lad.
Out on the heath, the ghosts of the past flesh out the superstructure of punters, patrons and past glories that sit upon the shoulders of the street urchin, whisper in the ear of Ginger, and make up 'the racing game'. More than a tale of a girl in a man's world, it is the tale of a youngster in a business and sport as old as time itself.
