The Reapers Year

Fri 28 Sep 1984 - Wed 28 Nov 1984

A play celebrating the harvests of a bygone age

THE REAPERS YEAR celebrates the harvest and recreating the characters and customs of a bygone world - all drawn from the accounts of the men and women that did the work.

But behind the rural mask lies another story: the long and painful struggle of the farmworker to improve his condition and take his place in the modern world. And 100 years ago this autumn the agricultural labourer won the right to vote, so it's time for a double celebration at the village 'frolic', 'horkey' or 'supper' - call it what you will - just come along and join in the fun.
