Join Lamphouse Theatre and Eastern Angles for an entertaining, musical, whistlestop tour of the history of Hampton, with a few true bits thrown in for good measure. What’s so special about the Hampton mud? Were there ever giants living here? How were the brick ovens really fired? And what have Great Crested Newts got to do with it all?
Prepare yourself for a rip-roaring ride through history, from the Jurassic Age to the age of the Shopping Centre in just 45 minutes. Meet magical creatures, tap your toes to catchy tunes and rekindle your love of this fabulous flatland.
Creating Drama from Local Stories...Behind the Scenes at Eastern Angles
The chance to hear how Eastern Angles finds and makes its shows from local stories, oral histories and old industries. It’s a tale of the radio ballads, the tape recorder and how music, facts and sound effects can stir people’s imaginations and memories. Enjoy the story of how 400 boxes of stuff in the archives became the huge hit Parkway Dreams, or the story of the ploughman’s frogs bone that gave him power over horses.
Ivan Cutting, artistic director of Eastern Angles will regale you with an entertaining journey through nearly 40 years of Eastern Angles and its remarkable shows with a sense of place.
