Casting opportunity for Stones In His Pockets

5 January 2024

We're looking for two male actors for the roles of Charlie and Jake in our upcoming spring tour production of Stones in His Pockets

"Marie Jones pulls off an ingenious theatrical trick that has a political kick"

Time Out

Directed by our new Artistic Director / CEO Jake Smith.

"Jake Smith's perfectly pitched UK premiere [...] is beautifully wrought in Smith's finely acted production [...] a blazingly impressive piece of writing immaculately staged and acted to the hilt."

WhatsOnStage

Charlie Conlon: In his mid-thirties and one of a number of extras hired in the filming of a Hollywood movie being shot in rural Ireland, Charlie is the former owner of a failed video store. He has a movie script in his back pocket that he hopes will win some consideration from the movie people. He is relegated to a faceless background role, and his script is never considered.

Age 30-40

Accent and Dialect: Northern Irish, (Ballycastle, County Antrim).

We are looking for actors with a strong physical ability and a passion for multirole, accent and dialect work.

Jake Quinn: One of a number of extras hired in the filming of a Hollywood movie being shot in rural Ireland, Jake has recently returned from a short and very unsuccessful stay in New York. Jake has the notion that he might become a film star. Instead, as an extra, he is relegated to digging turf. His attempts at winning the favours of the film’s female star by pretending to be a poet don’t go much better. He is a cousin of the tragic Sean Harkin.

The actors playing these two roles also portray the rest of the characters in the play.

Age 30-40

Accent and Dialect: Irish, (County Kerry).

We are looking for actors with a strong physical ability and a passion for multirole, accent and dialect work.

Eastern Angles Theatre Company

"The touring company for the East of England, blazing a trail across East Anglia for over 40 years!"

We are proud of the scalability of our productions and on our tour, we access some remote areas and play theatres to rural village halls. Actors are required to assist with the get-in and get-outs whilst on the tour.

We offer transportation as a company within our touring van to and from the venue and we organise accommodation from a trusted digs list. This benefits company members by being able to return to the same digs each evening as, after most performances, we return to Ipswich.

All actors are expected to support the technical crew with the set up and strike of a set in each venue.

This is a parameter of our work, and the spring tour is a staple part of this.

Where a return is not possible, overnight accommodation will be provided by the company.
