Eastern Angles Sponsored Cycle
17 June 2013Eastern Angles' General Manager Matthew Linley will be swapping his flat cap for a helmet and cycling 400 miles across East Anglia in order to raise money for the theatre company.
Setting off on the 22nd of June from High Beach, his route will cover 400 miles across East Anglia and he will eventually arrive in Peterborough on the 2nd of July.
The sponsored cycle has been in part inspired by the company winning an Arts Council Catalyst award back in May 2012. The award of £120k is dependent on Eastern Angles raising a much needed £100k. With the Catalyst match and gift aid each £1 donated could be worth £2.20.
But the ride is about more than fundraising; Last year saw Eastern Angles celebrate 30 years of rural touring and Matthew's route will include visiting over 40 venues in towns and villages that have hosted one of the 100 Eastern Angles previous productions. He will be hoping to meet the village promoters and supporters of the company in order to capture their stories.
I'm looking forward to cycling through East Anglia - discovering the places that have inspired the company's theatre- making for the last thirty years and meeting some of our audiences on route. It's a great opportunity, too, to raise much needed funds. Matthew Linley
