Eastern Angles Wins Arts Council Funding

27 June 2017

Eastern Angles is delighted to announce that they have been successful in gaining Arts Council funding for another four years.

Following a rigorous application process the theatre company will now receive financial support until March 2022 as one of 831 National Portfolio Organisations funded across England.

Eastern Angles have been regularly supported by Arts Council England since 1983 and this ongoing investment is an endorsement of the company’s past work and a sign of confidence and enthusiasm for its future plans and productions.

The Arts Council have emphasised the need to invest more money outside London, and this round of funding will see Arts Council ploughing 60% of its available support into regional activity.

Eastern Angles’ Artistic Director, Ivan Cutting said: “This is fantastic news for us. Eastern Angles serves a regional constituency working across four counties, but we have a strong Ipswich and Peterborough focus with bases in both locations. We have a number ambitious plans in the pipeline over the next four years including an Ipswich-based medieval drama project, hopefully supported by Heritage Lottery Fund, a project celebrating the unique landscape and sense of place of the Suffolk and Norfolk Boards, and plenty of community-focused arts opportunities for young people in Peterborough. This Arts Council investment will help us deliver these plans and so much more.”

Eastern Angles’ Chair Dr. Peter Funnell said:The Board of Eastern Angles are delighted to have received Arts Council National Portfolio status for our work. Touring theatre is an essential part of the arts landscape and with this support we will continue to make a regional and national contribution whilst developing new work and engaging creatively with the heritage of the eastern region and beyond”
