Fundraiser Night Raises £1500 for Developing Eastern Angles Ipswich Base

2 July 2019

On Friday night we held our first fundraising event for the development of the Sir John Mills Theatre and we're delighted to say the night raised £1500!

The sell-out evening was hosted by Charlie Haylock who gave an eccentric look into the Suffolk accent and its origins. After the talk, Artistic Director Ivan Cutting joined Charlie for an informal Q&A.

The fundraising night came about as Arts Council England have invited Eastern Angles to submit an application to their Capital Fund towards our ambition to takeover the old Suffolk Record Office buildings adjacent to the Sir John Mills Theatre. The whole of the old school will be called The Gatacre Centre.

This exciting development, which will encompass extra activity space, work with our local community & a business hub to increase our sustainability, could be up and running in a year’s time if we can raise £50,000 towards our total project cost of £200,000.

The aim of the night was to reach the next £1000 milestone which we smashed!

Keep an eye out for more fundraising events and news on the development here on our Eastern Angles website or follow us on Twitter,  Facebook & Instagram.
