Media Release
30 July 2012Written and directed by Joel Horwood, acclaimed for his work with the Lyric Hammersmith, nabokov and the West Yorkshire Playhouse, I Heart Peterborough is a heartbroken howl about trying to work out who you are when you are stuck in a city in the Fens.
Trapped in their suburban living room with their rituals, chip sticks and rewritten memories Hew (played by Jay Taylor) and Lulu (played by Milo Twomey) are a dysfunctional double-act, born and bred in Peterborough, a sixties New Town best known for its brickworks, train station and Lovefilm.
I Heart Peterborough is a chaotic and darkly comic 70-minute theatre piece.
It will be performed from August 1st - 27th at Pleasance Courtyard 2 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Joel Horwood, wrote Eastern Angles' 2008 Edinburgh hit I Caught Crabs in Walberswick, which went on to receive rave national reviews at the Bush Theatre. Following its run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, I © Peterborough will tour nationally including a two-week run at London's Soho Theatre.

Notes to Editors:
Joel Horwood burst on to the Edinburgh scene in 2005 with the musical Mikey the Pikey which won a Cameron Mackintosh Award. The following year, Food, about a troubled celebrity chef won a Fringe First Award. His bittersweet depiction of East Anglian teenagers, I Caught Crabs At Walberswick (an Eastern Angles/Hightide co-production) was a 2008 hit at the Bush Theatre. Joel's adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo opened at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in 2010. He is currently under commission to Paines Plough, Northampton Royal and Derngate and Cowboy Films/Channel 4 and co-writes Christmas shows for the Lyric Hammersmith.
Eastern Angles was founded in 1982. Since then the company has achieved national recognition for their East Anglian-inspired new writing and for engaging with audiences in Peterborough working in partnership with Peterborough's Cultural Trust, Vivacity, and the city's Key Theatre.
