Nativity Blues to tour to Peterborough

20 October 2015

The Christmas story but not as we know it...

Nativity Blues, a new play written by Danusia Iwaszko and Directed by Poppy Rowley, is a contemporary and multi-cultural version of the medieval Joyful Mysteries, written especially for Peterborough, and performed at The Undercroft in the Serpentine Green Shopping Centre

Fleeing their war-torn home, Miriam and Josef have arrived in Peterborough in search of peace but there's nowhere to stay and the baby is due!  On the edge of giving up hope they find help in unexpected hearts and safety in Serpentine Green. With a cast of pigeons, angels and ordinary folk this modern retelling of the nativity opens its arms to all people and all their beliefs.

This retelling of the nativity story will be performed in an unique pop-up theatre, which will turn the basement of Serpentine shopping centre into a special one-off venue. Eastern Angles will also be teaming up with Castor Ales with a pop-up real ale bar and an art exhibition by Peterborough Open Art Studios, so that our audiences can drink in style!

Eastern Angles other Peterborough work has included, 'Our Nobby', 'Parkway Dreams' and 'Dark Earth'.
