Oysters: From Page To Performance

9 March 2015

Since my last blog we have been working really hard in the ‘Oysters' rehearsal room getting the play from the page and into performance. This has been a really great process, working with the actors to bring their characters to life and seeing the piece come together. The script has been constantly changing as we go, and we discover new things about the play and get to know the characters better, and it has evolved into a quirky, individual and authentic show which is going to be a real treat for audiences.

Tomorrow sees us go into technical rehearsal, which involves running the show and stopping and starting to make sure the lights, sound, costumes and projections are all in the right place for our first performance in Stowmarket on Wednesday. Technical rehearsals can be very tiring but they're also very exciting, as it's the first time you get to see all the elements of the show together in front of you as they will be for the audience- up until that point there's a lot of guesswork involved! After that, we will be having our final dress rehearsals and then dismantling / reassembling the set and travelling to the first of around 50 venues.

See you in your local space very soon!
