Parkway Dreams: On The Road!
8 October 2015Parkway Dreams is on the road! We opened with a warmly received home run in Ipswich on September 30th, a chance to start the tour in a venue we all know inside out. It was great to have a packed schools matinee on the Friday, we'll be catching up with them at post-show workshops in the next couple of weeks. Earlier this week we kick-started the tour when we took the show to its place of origin - Peterborough. Fantastic reactions on our opening night there, particularly in response to the football references that pepper the play, who knew Peterborough would have so many West Ham fans! Tonight we're in Crawley, a first for Eastern Angles. The set looks brilliant, Charlie Cridlan's clever design is easily adapted to our different spaces. That's part of the fun of touring, altering the set and performances to fill the varying venues.
Next week we're onto Bracknell, Corby and Harlow, where we will also be welcoming our school groups. I'm looking forward to the show going to Hemel Hempstead. One of our characters - Wyndham Thomas, the actual General Manager of the Peterborough Development Corporation - worked for the Hemel Corporation before moving to Peterborough so there may be just a couple of mentions of Hemel in the production... We then head back to Essex for a night in Thurrock, the homeland of our playwright so we're looking forward to the local support. Mid-week we head up to Luton (home of Luton Airport Parkway, what more do you need!) then homewards to Colchester to finish our tour. That's a lot of miles, and a fair few get-ins and get-outs. The cast are doing an incredible job and always in good spirits.
If you haven't seen our trailer yet, do have a look. It perfectly captures the sense of fun that runs throughout the show, highlights some of the many characters we create and gives just a hint of what you can expect from our music. (And keep watching until the very end for a comedy moment from our Musical Director, Robert Hazle!)
Parkway Dreams has had a great reception so far, particularly on The Review Hub. We hope you'll join us at one of our upcoming venues for a night of nostalgia, live music and plenty of humour. See you there!
