SIGNAL FIRES

Saturday 24 October 2020 15.00, 18.30

SERPENTINE GREEN, Eagle Way, Peterborough

Eastern Angles Theatre Company and HighTide have joined forces to deliver Signal Fires: Peterborough, a LIVE outdoor theatre event, part of a national festival of fires!

Eastern Angles will present the culmination of their Young Writers Group who have been working together for 10 months. The event will be a celebration of the brilliant homegrown talent of Peterborough. Each writer will select a 10 minute extract from their script to be performed 'script in hand' by a selection of actors.

HighTide will present two pieces from their lockdown monologue series: Gran by Ben Weatherill and Bedlam Before The Burnout by Aisha ZiaGran is a touching portrait of life during the COVID-19 pandemic and the small moments of joy that can be found and will be performed by Sabrina Sandhu (Everyone’s Talking About Jamie, West End). Bedlam Before The Burnout, explores the chaos of modern urban life and the feeling of apocalypse which loomed even before the global pandemic.

In the spirit of doing what theatre does best, Eastern Angles' legendary Stage Manager, Penny Griffin, will be creating a brilliant tech fire for us all to enjoy. It will look impressive but won't keep you warm... so bring your chairs & blankets, grab a hot drink from Chimes Coffee Shop* and cosy up by the fireside.

Event Information

The performances will take place on the green at the back of Serpentine Green Shopping Centre. Both the performance space and The Undercroft are accessible via Eagle Way and NOT through the shopping centre.

This is an outdoor performance, please dress appropriately for the weather and bring your own chairs and blankets.

The lovely folk at Chimes, located in CSK Church, will be open before each performance serving hot drinks, soup and cakes. Picnics and thermos flasks are also encouraged, but please take all your rubbish home with you.

In the event of inclement weather the performance will be moved indoors to The Undercroft.

Currently there are no toilets on site, the nearest ones are located in CSK Church, accessible across the road from the green. CSK will be closing as 6.30pm after which the nearest toilets are in the Shopping Centre and accessible via the top car park - there is no access through the rear of the Shopping Centre and the escalator and lift are not in use.
