IN-THEATRE

Our much loved 'panto alternative' is back this June!

Priority Booking opens on Monday 10th May and General Booking on Monday 17th May. If you are a Friend of Copperfield Member, log in to your account to book, or call the box office on 01473 211498 (Mon - Fri 10am - 2pm).

Join Sam Snape, local vicar, private investigator and part time Wall of Death rider for an adventure that will take you across the wilds of Suffolk. Does our eponymous hero have enough time to solve the mystery of the exploding sheep, take down a posse of local hoodlums, break the dreaded curse and get back to the vicarage for tea and cake? Only time will tell.

Written by Julian Harries and directed by Ivan Cutting the show takes its cues from the world of film noir and local myths. This silly satirical romp features original live music, hilarious songs and it promises to leave you smiling from ear to ear.

All tickets £20.

Whilst booking your show tickets we're encouraging people to add on any pre-show and interval drinks and ice creams. These will then be delivered directly to your table during your visit. To take a look at our full bar menu for Sam Snape and the Curse of the Chillesford Chough please click HERE.

Before booking please read our See it Safely Guarantee at the bottom of this page.

The safety of our audiences, volunteers, creatives and staff is paramount and we’ve carefully considered the live theatre experience, to make sure you get maximum enjoyment and safety. The raked seating is gone (for now) and in its place are cabaret style tables bookable in groups of 2, 3, 4 or 6. Drinks and ice-creams will be available to pre-order and delivered to your table, there’s extra ventilation, a reduced seating capacity and of course hand sanitiser aplenty. Plus, our brand-new Eastern Angles Centre provides a one-way-system and plenty of room to socially distance.

This in person performance will also be live streamed. As such there will be a camera person moving in front of the raised stage, in the area marked on the seating plan. All other cameras will be remote and mounted from the ceiling/walls.

What the press & our audience members say about our Christmas shows:

"Fabulous frenetic two hours of mayhem... a fun alternative to panto, which is something to be treasured"

East Anglian Daily Times on The Famous Four Go Wild in Thetford Forest

'It's all tightly directed by Ivan Cutting who uses every inch of the constricted space to good effect'

British Theatre Guide

See it Safely

The raked seating has been removed and we have reduced the capacity of the auditorium to 53 to ensure we maintain social distancing of at least one metre plus, between tables/chairs. You can book in social bubbles of up to 6 people. Bookings of 6 or more are not permitted at this time unless you book across two or more tables.

We will clean the auditorium between shows using a fogging machine. All touch points will be cleaned between performances.

Prior to, during the interval and at the end of the performance additional windows and doors will be open.

During the performance there will be ventilation in the auditorium

We will not be issuing physical tickets, but audiences should bring Print at Home tickets (either printed out or on a mobile device) or evidence of their ticket purchases.

We will not produce a printed programme.

The performance will last approximately 2 hours, with a 20 minute interval. We encourage you to pre-order your pre-show and interval refreshments when you book your tickets, however you will still be able to order on arrival, before the show starts. Refreshments will be served to your table.

Audiences, staff and volunteers must wear face coverings (unless exempt) throughout the performance. Please bring your own mask to cover your mouth and nose.

Staff, performers and volunteers will have their temperature checked on arrival. Audience members will also be temperature checked on arrival.

Hand sanitiser will be placed at key locations.

Staff will be on hand to guide and answer questions.

Cancellation/Refunds

If you or someone you know has experienced any of the symptoms of Covid-19 in the two weeks prior to the performance or experiences symptoms on the day you should self-isolate and not come to the performance. Please email the box office to return your tickets, a full refund will be given.

If Eastern Angles has to cancel the event due to Covid-19, or for any other reason, we will contact you as soon as we can to re-schedule or arrange a refund.

Arrival/Interval/Finish

On arrival you will be directed into our new entrance for The Eastern Angles Centre (this is the former Suffolk Record Office entrance, not the Sir John Mills Theatre door). Weather permitting we will be able to utilise the outside spaces for checking tickets. When the auditorium opens, 15 minutes before the show, you will be taken to your seats in your bubbles and any pre-show drinks will be at your table. There will also be access to toilets, pre and post show.

During the interval you will be able to visit the toilet and any pre-ordered interval drinks will be brought to your table.

When the performance has finished we ask that you remain seated and we will safely exit table by table through the door onto Gatacre Road.

Performers and Staff

Performers will form a bubble , therefore they don't need to wear masks when performing or socially distance from each other. The stage area is raised and there is a 1.5m space between the front of the stage and the front tables. The performers, stage crew and camera crew will be testing regularly. There will be a camera person, wearing a mask, moving in front of the stage area, they will have their back to the audience.

Our staff will be taking lateral flow tests twice weekly in accordance with government guidance.

We will be constantly reviewing these guidelines in line with the Government Guidelines and will alert you to any significant changes.
